So you’re planning a trip to Disneyland in California?  How exciting!  There’s so much to see, to do and to love ❤️  And there’s a lot to know as well!  You’ll want to know the height requirements in Disneyland Resort for all the attractions before you arrive, to avoid some major disappointments.

One of the easiest ways to sidestep a line-up meltdown in the park is to know if everyone in your party is tall enough to ride the rides!  There’s not much worse than standing in line for what feels like forever, only to find out your 3-year old cannot jump on the Incredicoaster next to you!  So let’s take a look at what attraction height requirements are for the parks.

Why are there Height Requirements?

The main reason for the attraction height requirements in Disneyland is safety.  If there is any chance that something bad could happen on a ride, Disney has thought of it and put precautions into place.  In my visits to the Parks, I have seen parents telling their kids to “stretch a bit”, stand on their toes, and even spike up their hair to give the appearance of height.  But you know what?  It’s not worth it.  I get it, the kids want to ride everything.  But safety comes first, for you and your family and for those on the rides with you.

If you know the height requirements before your trip, you’ll save yourselves a lot of time and headaches!

Attractions for Everyone

There are a number of attractions throughout both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Parks that have no height requirements, meaning anyone of any age can ride or enjoy them.  For the most part, mobility restrictions are not a concern.  There are a few attractions that cannot accommodate wheelchairs, and the guests must be able to walk or at least transfer from their wheelchair to the attraction.  These are:

  • Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, Sleeping Beauty Castle and Redwood Creek Challenge Trail – These are interactive walk-throughs, so guests need to be able to get through on their own.
  • Disneyland Railroad, Main Street Vehicles and Sailing Ship Columbia – Wheelchairs and ECVs are not permitted on these attractions and guests will need to transfer.

*Note – for the most updated information on the availability of attractions, be sure to visit the official Disneyland site.

At the time of writing this post, there are more than 60 attractions listed on the Disneyland website under No Height Restrictions!  That’s a lot of fun for everyone!

You’ll also want to check the official Disneyland Resort website to confirm any current closures, due to refurbishment or health protocols.  Know before you go!  This is super important to avoid disappointment – if Big Thunder is your absolute favourite, and it’s closed for maintenance and refurbishment, there’s going to be some serious sadness.  Yes, we are speaking from experience.

Height Requirements by Attraction

We’ve created two easy-to-follow tables of the height requirements for both Disneyland Park and California Adventure.  These requirements are also available on the Disneyland site, where you can confirm the latest information.  But by downloading our FREE chart, you can save them to your phone in your photos, which will help you avoid the need for that pesky wifi.  How easy is that?  Of course, if you prefer, you can print copies as well!  Just fill out the form below and have the charts sent straight to your inbox!
