HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW DISNEYLAND?  JOIN US AS WE WALK YOU THROUGH THE RESORT WITH OUR ULTIMATE GUIDE COLLECTION!  NEXT STOP:  CRITTER COUNTRY!

Critter Country is a tiny little land, sandwiched between the expansive mystique of New Orleans Square and the excitement of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  Home to Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too, Critter Country is teeming with cuteness and cuddles.  While small in space, this cozy land still offers guests a fun time!

Grab your poncho and your favourite walking shoes, we’re headed into the Country – Critter Country, that is!

ATTRACTIONS in CRITTER COUNTRY

Critter Country offers attractions for everyone!  Here you’ll find:

  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes
  • Splash Mountain

Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

This is an attraction that is perfect for the whole family!  There are no height restrictions on this ride, so pile the little ones into your beehive and enjoy Winnie the Pooh’s many adventures!

Remember to watch out for Heffalumps and Woozles!

Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes

Take your seat in a 20-passenger canoe that will be powered by … you!  Guests paddle their way around Tom Sawyer’s Island in actual free-floating canoes.

Along your ride, you’ll enjoy sights from Frontierland, New Orleans Square and Critter Country.  Keep an eye out for the wildlife along your journey.

This attraction is available to guests of any height.  Smaller paddlers will be provided with a life jacket before getting into the canoes.  All travellers will be given instructions before starting out.

Splash Mountain

This thrill ride is sure to please and it’s SURE to get you wet!  Hop aboard a floating hollow log and follow the river through a colourful bayou.  There are twists, turns and small drops along the path to the main attraction – the 5-story drop which ALWAYS ends in a HUGE splash!

Tip:  If it’s a cooler day or you simply don’t want to get wet, now would be the time to pull that poncho out of your bag!

NOTE:  Splash Mountain will be undergoing a major transformation in the near future.  At the time of publishing, this attraction is closed for refurbishment, but a major overhaul will be coming.  Expect to see Tiana, Luis and other friends from The Princess and the Frog in the future!  We can’t wait!

SHOPPING in CRITTER COUNTRY

There might only be two shopping locations in Critter Country, but we generally have a hard time getting out of this land empty-handed!

Pooh Corner

One of our favourite shops in the entire resort is Pooh Corner.  In some ways, it feels like a miniature version of World of Disney in Downtown Disney.  Every which way you look, there’s something to capture your attention.

When you enter Pooh Corner from the exit of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, you find yourself surrounded by treats.  Baked goods, candies and tins full of goodies are everywhere!  Tucked alongside the sweets are collections of housewares.

Wander into the next “room” and you’ll find all sorts of wonderful plush toys, which we have a very hard time resisting.  Next up, you’ll find more toys and then finally clothing.  Small gifts and trinkets are sprinkled throughout the space.

We often find merchandise in Pooh Corner that we really haven’t seen anywhere else in the resort!

The Briar Patch

This little shop looks like a log cabin built into the side of Splash Mountain.  They carry a great selection of ears and hats and some clothing too!  You can get personalization done on your hats here as well.

DINING in CRITTER COUNTRY

There are two quick-service options in Critter Country but with menus like these, you don’t need more than that!

Hungry Bear Restaurant

This quick-service location offers delicious burgers – beef, chicken and plant-based.  The menu also has a salad option, delicious desserts and kids’ and toddlers’ meals.  Keep your eyes out for special seasonal offerings as well!

You can enjoy your meal on the covered patio overlooking the Rivers of America.  Be sure to wave when a riverboat, sailing ship or canoes pass by!

Harbour Galley

Satisfy your rumbly tummy with a delicious lobster roll or tuna salad sandwich at the Harbour Galley!  You can also get clam chowder or broccoli cheddar soup in a fresh-baked sourdough bread bowl.  Add some fresh fruit on the side and you won’t be sorry!

A quick word on dining in Critter Country, and the Disneyland Resort as a whole.  Do keep in mind that current conditions and restrictions may impact dining locations, options and availability.  While the Resort is doing its very best to ensure a great experience for all guests, you may encounter delays or disappointment.  Try to take it all in stride!  After all, you’re STILL in Disneyland!  To get the latest updates and need-to-know information, be sure to visit the Official Disneyland site!

Of course, no guide is complete without a few tips!  When it comes to Critter Country, some guests make the mistake of assuming that because there are not as many attractions as other areas, it won’t be that busy.  In our experience, this could not be further from the truth!

Our Best Tips for Critter Country

Critter Country lies off the main walkway through the park.  It is effectively a dead end, so people are coming and going in all directions through one walkway.  On busy days, this area can become incredibly congested.

When the days are hot, the lines for Splash Mountain are LONG.  If you plan to ride on a hot day, either go early or make use of the Genie+.  Otherwise, you can be in for a long wait.  Of course, on cool or rainy days, this ride can be a walk-on.

The queue for Winnie the Pooh is not very long, so it can look like you’ll be waiting forever.  In our experience, even on the busiest of days, we cannot recall waiting longer than 20 minutes to enjoy the ride.

The patio at Hungry Bear Restaurant is open to anyone in the park, not just those dining there.  If you’re looking for a place to take shelter, either from the sun or the rain, this is a great spot to try!

Critter Country, while small in size, is big on heart and even bigger on fun!  Make sure you allow time to explore all corners of this wonderfully cozy land.
