So pack your bags, because we’re making the jump to lightspeed!
ATTRACTIONS in STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE
Galaxy’s Edge boasts some of the most cutting-edge attractions in the Disneyland Resort. There are two attractions and two experiences to be had:
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
- Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers
- Droid Depot
Let’s take a closer look at each of them.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
One of the most highly anticipated attractions in years, Rise of the Resistance does not disappoint. This attraction has been wildly popular with park guests since it opened in December of 2019. Rise of the Resistance gives riders an experience like no other on a massive scale! You have to see it to believe it.
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
This attraction is another fan favourite, providing an immersive experience aboard the “fastest ship in the galaxy”. Guests will be assigned a task at the time of boarding and it’s up to you to help save the galaxy!
Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers
While this is not an attraction in the traditional sense, creating your own custom lightsaber is an experience you’re not likely to forget. Details are available on the Disneyland website!
NOTE: Savi’s Workshop is a SHOP. Purchase is required. Be sure to read all the details prior to making your reservation!
Droid Depot
Just as with Savi’s Workshop, the Droid Depot is NOT an attraction, but a shop with an immersive experience! Here you will assemble your own custom Atromech Droid Unit. There’s plenty to choose from and you’ll come away with the Droid you were looking for!
NOTE: The Droid Depot is a SHOP. Purchase is required. Be sure to read all the details prior to making your reservation.
SHOPPING in STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE
There’s plenty of shopping to be had while waiting your turn to join the Resistance or save the galaxy aboard the Millenium Falcon. At the Black Spire Outpost on Planet Batuu, Resistance gear, toys, creatures and collectibles are all available throughout Galaxy’s Edge. And be sure to pop into Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities for a look at the Galaxy’s rarest treasures.
Keep in mind that if the items you want are sold out, not to worry! ShopDisney has you covered! You can also check out the Emporium over on Main Street USA for a few select Star Wars items. Or head on down to Downtown Disney to the Star Wars Trading Post.
DINING in STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE
For tastes that are out of this world, Galaxy’s Edge is the place to be! Be sure to stop by any of these locations for tastes that you won’t find anywhere else in the resort.
Milk Stand
No trip to Batuu is complete without trying the Blue Milk. Of course, there’s Green Milk too! Save time by using mobile order!
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
This quick-service location offers a lunch and dinner menu sure to satisfy weary travellers. The menu includes a plant-based option, kids’ meals and seasonal offerings. Mobile ordering is available.
Ronto Roasters
Start your day with the Ronto Morning Wrap for breakfast, or pop in later in the day for a quick-service lunch or dinner. Mobile ordering is available at Ronto Roasters, but note that there are no kids’ meal offerings at this location.
Kat Saka’s Kettle
Pop into this snack stand located in the Marketplace for some Outpost Mix, a delicious blend of caramel and chocolate popcorn! Also watch for seasonal snack offerings, such as chicken drumsticks.
Oga’s Cantina
As much an experience as it is a place to eat and drink, Oga’s Cantina will thrill any Star Wars fan. Take your seats among bounty hunters, smugglers and other weary travellers and enjoy the music and exotic treats.
Reservations are HIGHLY recommended – I have yet to be in the park and be able to get in without them. You can peruse the menu and more on the Disneyland website.
A quick word on dining in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and the Disneyland Resort as a whole. Do keep in mind that current conditions and restrictions may impact dining locations, options and availability. While the Resort is doing its very best to ensure a great experience for all guests, you may encounter delays or disappointment. Try to take it all in stride! After all, you’re STILL in Disneyland! To get the latest updates and need-to-know information, be sure to visit the Official Disneyland site!
No guide would be complete without some tips, so here are my thoughts on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Best Tips for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
One of the most popular attractions in the park is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. The Resort now offers individual Light Lane purchases for this attraction. There is a standby queue, of course, but unless you are first in line in the morning, expect long waits. For example, at the time of writing this post, on a Tuesday morning in October, the wait time is already up to 85 minutes.
Depending on the amount of time you have in the Resort, it may be worth it to you and your party to purchase Lightning Lane entry. Keep in mind, the Lightning Lane on this attraction often sells out early in the day.
If you plan to experience Oga’s Cantina, Savi’s Workshop or the Droid Depot, be sure to make reservations ahead of time and give yourself enough time to enjoy them all.
While spending time on Batuu, if you see items you’d like to purchase, do so there. Most of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge merchandise is only in that land. There are some items in other locations, but your best selection will be within Galaxy’s Edge.
Keep an eye out for characters, like Rey, Chewbacca and the Storm Troopers. There are often short shows throughout the land, so be ready to stop and enjoy!
As you can see, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge truly is out of this world! With so much to offer, you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to fully experience Planet Batuu!
