Step into Tomorrowland, home of the future – when Disneyland first began!  Here you’ll find an opening day attraction, a classic fan favourite or two and a space ranger looking to save the galaxy!

Tomorrowland continues to be a popular destination in Disneyland park and offers attractions for all ages.  Let’s take a look!

ATTRACTIONS in TOMORROWLAND

Tomorrowland is host to a wide range of different rides!  Here you’ll find a Classic Attraction from Opening Day in 1955, a bit of Star Wars, a journey to space and more:

  • Autopia
  • Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
  • Space Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
  • Astro Orbitor
  • Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
  • Disneyland Monorail
  • Disneyland Railroad
  • Star Wars Launch Bay
  • Tomorrowland Theater

Here’s a closer look at each attraction.

Autopia

Take a road trip on this original opening day classic!  Guests can hop into a hot rod and make their way along a “freeway” under the shadow of the Matterhorn mountain!

To drive alone, guests must be at least 54″ tall, but smaller guests (32″ or taller) can drive as long as they have a co-pilot that is at least 54″!

Good fun for everyone!

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

This colourful adventure takes you under the sea on an adventure to – you guessed it – find Nemo!  Watch for familiar characters on your underwater voyage.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage is currently closed for a lengthy refurbishment but will be beautifully revitalized on its return!

Space Mountain

This whirling, swirling indoor roller coaster has been thrilling guests of Disneyland since 1977.  A must-do for longtime fans and new visitors alike, Space Mountain is not to be missed.

Currently, Space Mountain has been transformed into HYPERspace Mountain, which will remain in place until July 5, 2022!  This is a must-see for any Star Wars fan!

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters

Join everyone’s favourite Space Ranger in saving the galaxy from the evil Emperor Zurg in this family favourite!  Collect points by shooting laser light beams and targets and see how well you can score.

Don’t forget to get your free ride photo on your way out – you can email it to yourself!

Astro Orbitor

Prepare to launch in your own rocket when you ride the Astro Orbitor!  This attraction is fun for all ages and you get to control how high or low you fly with a lever inside your rocket!

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

Board this 3D adventure into space with your tour guide C-3PO and hold onto your seats!  Each journey is different as there are a number of tours that you might enjoy when you ride this attraction.

A note about Star Tours – if you are prone to motion sickness or affected by 3D effects, you may want to wait for your party at the space station!

Disneyland Monorail

The first of its kind in America, the Disneyland Monorail was originally designed to transport guests of the Disneyland Hotel into the park.  Today, there are two stations:  Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney.

Enjoy amazing views of Disneyland, Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney on your journey to and from the Tomorrowland Station.

Disneyland Railroad

The Tomorrowland Station is one of four stations on the Grand Circle Tour; the other stations are Main Street USA, New Orleans and Toontown.

Star Wars Launch Bay

Previously the home of Innoventions and the home of the future, this large building was converted to hold props, costumes and character meet-and-greets for the Star Wars franchise.  This attraction is currently unavailable and at the time of writing, there is no information as to what might take place here.  The majority of Star Wars theming has been relocated to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Tomorrowland Theater

At the time of writing the Tomorrowland Theater remains closed.  In past, however, it has shown classic short films such as Captain EO featuring Michael Jackson and Honey I Shrunk the Audience.  Be sure to check the Disneyland site to watch for any upcoming changes to the theater.

SHOPPING in TOMORROWLAND

In Tomorrowland, even though there are only two locations, you’ll find apparel, accessories, toys, costumes and so much more!

Little Green Men Store Command

Visit this fun little shop to find limited-edition pins, toys and some of your favourite Pixar and Disney merchandise!

The Star Trader

The Star Trader has something for nearly every Star Wars fan out there, and then some!  You’ll find some really great clothing and collectibles and even a build-your-own Light Saber station!

A quick word on dining in Tomorrowland, and the Disneyland Resort as a whole.  Do keep in mind that current conditions and restrictions may impact dining locations, options and availability.  While the Resort is doing its very best to ensure a great experience for all guests, you may encounter delays or disappointment.  Try to take it all in stride!  After all, you’re STILL in Disneyland!  To get the latest updates and need-to-know information, be sure to visit the Official Disneyland site!

Of course, no guide is complete without a few insider thoughts!  When it comes to Tomorrowland, here are our best tips.

Our Best Tips for Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland can be a bit of a bottleneck on busy days.  If you want to ride Autopia, be sure to hit the queue first thing in the morning.  Make use of your Lightning Lanes if you purchase Genie+ and be strategic about your time.  All the attractions in Tomorrowland are very popular and tend to stay busy once the crowds arrive.

If you happen to time it just right, you can get a special view of the fireworks from the Astro Orbitor!  My nephew and I rode it during the fireworks show and it was breathtaking.

By entering the park in the morning using the Monorail, you might beat some of the crowds to the attractions here.

Tomorrowland may feel somewhat chaotic and disconnected to first-time visitors, but spend some time getting to know this land.  It might just become your favourite!
